Scarlett Johansson 喺《Entertainment Tonight》接受訪問時，罕有地透露《The Batman 2》入面佢嘅未揭曉角色，搞到佢有「a lot of existential angst, for some reason」。
佢話：「It was very hard to figure out. I don't know why, whether it was just the role or it was just where I am in my life, but it was just hard to crack it. And that's all I can say about it.」
呢個角色嘅消息最早喺今年 5 月曝光，由導演 Matt Reeves 喺 X 發出——內容只有 2013 年《Under the Skin》入面佢喺後視鏡嘅倒影 GIF，冇一句字。同佢一齊入圍、角色同樣未公開嘅仲有 Sebastian Stan 同 Brian Tyree Henry。
製作方面，Reeves 因為「personal matter」暫時離席，奧斯卡導演 Steven Soderbergh 接手。Reeves 自己講明二部曲會將重心放喺 Robert Pattinson 嘅 Bruce Wayne 上面，而唔係 Batman 本尊——「Once you get past the origin tale... you start telling the Rogues Gallery story and that character's sort of arc.
